I have been involved with visual arts in one media or another since I can remember. A habitual student, I have attended The Corcoran School of Art, Vermont College, The Alexandria Art League, and a few others. I have worked in pottery, plasters, stained glass, painted in acrylics, oils, watercolors - the list goes on. I love exploring new media.
For eight years I was the proprietor and principal artist at SQ Design Studios, a mural and faux finishing business. It was so fun and rewarding - and very physical. Lugging paint cans and plasters, assembling scaffolding, climbing up and down that scaffolding - not how I see spending my "later" years.
But I learned large scale imagery can be pretty powerful.
My latest inspiration is more down to earth - soft pastels. Discovered as I tried to recover an acrylic painting, I was instantly drawn to the vibrant color. And while it has been a big learning curve going from large scale to the smaller format of pastels, I rekindled my love of color, landscapes, seascapes and all of nature. And I seem to keep getting into larger sizes. So, who knows where it goes? I hope you will visit this web site often and join me in my journey as I add the latest pieces, tell you something about them and announce current events.
I live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the east coast. My family, including 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, 6 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 2 cats, all live within 150 miles of me. Subsequently, frequent trips across the Bay Bridge as well as my own east coast seascapes, marshes and farms are a huge inspiration. I enjoy Spec Tennis, the beach, gardening, decorating, shopping (ask my husband) & watching him fish off Assateague Island while enjoying my friends and family. It's a good life.
I am an active member of the Art League of Ocean City, the
Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society and the Maryland Pastel Society.
